* Current allowable federal mileage reimbursement rate at time of presentation from my home to teaching site and back OR round-trip airfare from Flint, MI, plus parking. (You will be asked to OK airline tickets before purchase. Reimbursement of airline tickets is required within 30 days after purchase.) In those cases when more than one guild is sharing travel/lodging expenses, should one of those bookings fall through, the remaining groups would be responsible for 100% of these costs. This may also include airline penalties for re-scheduling flights.
* A non-refundable deposit of 20% of my teaching fees and signed contract are required to hold the date(s). I will not cash deposit checks until I teach for you unless you ask me to. Deposit will be forfeited if workshop(s) or lecture(s) are canceled by you for any reason. This may also include airline penalties for re-scheduling airline flights/refunding airline tickets.
* Room and board, including meals en route. I require a private, non-smoking room in a hotel with access to my room from an interior corridor. If there is no elevator I need to be on the ground floor. I would rather stay in one central location, close to workshop/lecture sites, rather than be moved around, unless an "airport" hotel would be more convenient for you on the last night. Please check the housing arrangements you have made with me before I come. (I don't need "fancy" accommodations but I do bring lots of luggage. I prefer restaurant meals to "home cooking/Pot Luck." I'll eat almost anything.)
* Reimbursement and return shipping of my quilts (via UPS, insured) is required when the quilt version of “How NOT To Make A Prize-Winning Quilt” is presented and I have to fly. This also applies to demo quilts that will not fit in my carry-on suitcase. If return shipping instructions are not followed, your group will be liable for any loss and/or damage. Please let me know if you do not wish me to bring quilts that must be shipped ahead, or if you would like me to work within a particular shipping budget.
* I will bring copies of my books, patterns, kits, pencil sharpeners, and other goodies to sell at workshops and lectures, shipped at my expense. I have enough "stuff" for one 8-foot table. If I will be teaching/lecturing in a quilt shop I need to know this ahead of time, and you need to ask permission for me to sell my wares in their shop before we sign a contract. I don’t want to step on any toes. I am a very "soft sell." I don’t do commercials, but I will explain products if people inquire. My fees are based on the presumption that I can offer items for sale. If I cannot sell in the room in which I present, my fees will need to be adjusted. I will be happy to offer a door prize of my choosing at lectures; however I will not "donate" a percentage of my sales to your guild. IF SELLING CONFLICTS WITH YOUR GUILD OR SHOP POLICY PLEASE ADVISE ME BEFORE WE ENTER INTO ANY AGREEMENT SO I CAN ADJUST MY FEES ACCORDINGLY.
* I do not hold space for "letters of intent;" a contract is required. On the bright side, fees stated in my contract will not increase even though bookings may be contracted for several years in advance. Since my contract addresses the issues outlined above I prefer to use my contract. If you would like to amend your contract we can use your contract. I will only sign ONE contract.
Please e-mail me for a list of current fees, or complete a Booking Request.
