Click on the picture to see it bigger. This 5 foot square quilt was made for my mother’s 75th birthday. It includes family photos that show four generations of family members. The pieced blocks are significant because they relate to our Pennsylvania Dutch heritage (Shoo-Fly, Dutchman’s Puzzle, Fox & Geese) and my mother’s skills as an avid gardener (Tulips), seamstress and quilter (Spools). There are 76 photos in all. It is machine pieced and quilted. The crocheted butterfly on the lower right border is one my mother made as a teenager.” This Wedding Quilt is about 5’ by 7’ in size and was commissioned by the bride. It includes blocks signed by the wedding guests, transfers of the wedding and rehearsal, dinner invitations, and the best man’s toast in addition to the photos. Pieced state blocks of Virginia and New Jersey include the bride and groom’s names and birth dates. The photos include the couple’s courtship, wedding and honeymoon. An applique block commemorates their honeymoon in Alaska. It is machine pieced and quilted. Susan Price Springfield, VA
