This is my first quilt. I started sewing without knowing much about quilting, thinking it's just piecing fabrics together and then sandwiching it and quilting on top of it.
I cut everything into long strips. Most of the fabrics were from Walmart's and JoAnn's remnant bins. Some were from a friend's remnant bag. I didn't know that fabric would stretch; I just kept piecing those strips into a big piece. I started wondering why the strips, all cut selvage to selvage, became shorter and shorter. I had to piece the strips longer before sewing them onto the top. When I realized what had happened, I had a big fan shaped doom-like top. I strip-cut it again and pieced it together. It wasn't wide enough so I added those borders. I used colors to reassemble the sunset, green land, and ocean with fish. I quilted in the ditch vertically. You can see a little bit of white on the left side between the blue and the red with white dots fabric. It's actually the salvage from the blue fabric.
After it was done, I gave it to my cousin for Christmas. He was very happy with and hung it on his bedroom wall!
Thank you,
Ihsia
(If your cousin hung it on the wall, this quilt isn't as bad as you think. Unless he is visually impaired.---Ami)
